Looking for commnents regarding the difference in sounds these two heads would produce. I know there both 2 plys and the pin stripes have additional muffling, but looking to hear from the experts!! out there and what you have found or think.

Looking for deeper tone...

Thanks

Doug

Pinstripes have a 'wetter', deeper tone than Emps.

Both are durable, Pins are probably easier to tune up if you aren't that good at it.
Pinstripes are also available Coated.

Pinstripes were actually a VERY popular head for a good long time.

Either head you choose, tap & check them before you buy so you don't get a "dead" one.
That goes for any brand 2 ply head.

The only real difference between Emps and Pinstrips are in the ring of adhesive that goes around the outer 1" or so perimeter in the Pinstripes. That has the effect similar to what those muffle rings do to snare drums, just not quite as pronounced.

Here's a video comparison between the two you might find helpful.

Everything this guy said...........and I might add that coated 2pl heads can be major pain to tune up sometimes.
