pearl hi-hat drop clutch... bit of a problem...

So I purchased this drop clutch yesterday, and then found it was too big to grasp my hi-hat rod. I tried using my old clutch, and then just attaching the drop mechanism, but then the drop mechanism wouldn't fit under the edge of my old clutch, because it was too tall.

So my question is, can I buy just the main rod and screw of a hi-hat clutch, or do they only package the whole clutch? Or should I just return the pearl clutch and see if a gibraltar or DW will fit?
 
First thought.
What brand is your hi-hat? That's the manufacture you should "probably" go with, for a drop clutch.​
Second thought.
Measure the hi-hat rod (diameter) and buy a drop clutch that's made for that sized rod.​
