Default Help me with this mic clamp

I have a tupan drum. The profile looks like this:

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/ZHOMKcsap3w/hqdefault.jpg

It's a rope tension drum that is comprised of a a 20" shell, remo heads which are tensioned down with a single, non flanged hoop over each drum head.

I'm trying to find a low profile clamp or tom mic holder to use with my Audix D4 on it. The DFlex clamp may work but it gets bad reviews and is flimsy and breaks. Quite similar to the Mic EZE

I found the Gibraltar R Class Universal bass drum clamp:

Seemed to be great and I could put this piece in the hole and then have the mic screw on:

After trying it out on my drum, the hoop / head collar are to short and the clamp won't clamp down at all....it's a little short:

Should I try and wedge something in there for the clamp to grab on to? Or just try and find something else. Any recommendations would be helpful.

Some have showed Tama CBH20 hoop mounted cowbell holder to work with some other parts:

I already use an AT350U mic on the one side which is a gooseneck with a small clip that works fine. The bass side I want a dynamic mic for more low end use like the D4...so that's why I'm asking this advice.

Thanks!

Try the LP Claw mounts. They can clamp onto all sorts of ethnic percussion.

The LP claw base fits bit its bulkier then Id like. Is there a short straight rod w mic threads that would fit that? The LP one is huge. Would a shure a56d fit a shorter rim/hoop?

The LP Claw will accommodate 9mm and 10mm rods, but I don't know of any short mic rods such as that. No experience with the Shure mount but it looks as if it could work.

The shure 56 clamp is very versatile - you can rotate one section 90 degrees to get a wide clamp to grab a cymbal stand, or stepped for metal rims, or small and curved. Not too bulky, but strong and well designed.

Change the screw on the one that won't tighten down all of the way. Some lug screws have longer threads.

Its not the screw... the actual meta piece is too long and basically stops short. I ordered the shure one so well see how that one goes. Thanks for advice. If anyone else has creative ideas for this Im all ears

I would just cut a thick piece of tubing (clear medical or aquarium, or rubber) and slide it over the bottom claw of the R Class you have.
