coated g2's over Ec reso?

I recently bought some coated g2's for my toms, i have yet to replace the reso heads. I can't quite tune them right, and i have a suspicion that it may be the stock reso heads. I am looking for a sound at least somewhat like the toms in this video below. Would the ec reso help lower the pitch of the toms, or would it deaden the sound too much? Or should I just go with another head? Help me please! Thanks.

Edit: Also I have a grestch catalina maple, if that's important

All I know is that wimpy resos (often the case with stock heaas) don't tune up very well and you can get a big sound improvement by changing them. I would be reluctant to put a head on the reso side with any kind of built in dampening. I like a wide-open sound but if I want to do any muting, I want to be able to control that myself. I'd stick with a single ply G1 or Ambassador myself.

same as mike, im an evans guy so i would go with g1.
g2 batter and g1 resonant is all ive ever had on my kit and i havent had 1 bad experience yet
