Which would you choose and why?
Or would you go with a Yamaha?

I like the heads on the Alesis DM8 Pro but it is not out till May 20, so since I have the time I figured it would be good to ask about the Roland Roland TD-4K2-S

My limit is about $1,000 U.S.

Thank you.

I currently own a Roland td4kx, couldn't be happier, had it for a year and runs perfectly. Would deffinately reccomend any Roland product over alesis, they are more cheap, plasticy kits that lack quality IMO

Thank you for your reply.

The td4kx drum kit is out of my price range. But I understand you what you mean by being satisfied with Roland.

It is a bit unfair to ask about the Alesis DM8 as it is not out till May. But the vids below, I like what I see on the Alesis as far as their drum heads and module. But Roland is well respected.

Let's see if this helps:

Alesis Vid an NAMM

A decent TD-4K2 vid is just as tough to find as Roland seems to want to focus on the X series.

I like the Alesis better, but it just looks like the heads would be beaten up real easily.

Agree on the heads.

They look cool, but they might end up feeling like a gimmick simply placed over the rubber pads.

And now I am seriously thinking the DM10.

I've had the Alesis drum machines. This kit will be used to play for a genre of music that benefits from an electronic kit. It will be a house kit mostly, with some use playing out.

I bought the Roland TD-9K2.

Finding out a toy manufacturer makes the Alesis pads and not wanting to make mods to them and the fact that I was able to get the TD-9K2 for the same price as the Alesis DM10Pro with a throne, kick pedal, free shipping and 12 months interest free sealed the deal.

Hi,

I was trying to get DM10 reviews until i ran into this thread - the roland td-9k2 was out of mu budget as well, but you said you got it for the same price as the DM10 - can you share where you were able to get that deal?

Thanks
