Default half speed dvd player for mac with sound

I like to watch instructional videos at half speed. The stock dvd player that comes with my MacBook allows me to slow the video down to half speed or less, but as soon as it does that, I don't have sound. I used to have a dvd player for a pc that would allow a slow down of speed AND keep the sound. Does anyone know of a mac program that allows this to happen?

Transcribe now has video as well as audio. I use it all the time. It really helps to find out what sticking a drummer is using. You can slow down any amount, not just half speed. It is available for mac as well.

If you want to slow down tunes without video to figure out parts, google "The Amazing Slowdowner" it's a program you can download for roughly twenty or so bucks. You can slow down songs to any tempo and it doesn't change the pitch unless of course you want it to. It's a great tool to have.

For $50, you can slow down video AND audio with Transcribe.

VLC Media Player is free and slows down video and audio. It plays back any video and audio formats that I have ever heard of and has a feature to sync audio and video if they are out of sync.

I use it all the time and can only recommend it.

The only downside that I see is that it does not keep the pitch when slowing things down but that has never really bothered me since I don't write out melody or harmony. Only drums.

You still hear the difference between a floortom and a bassdrum at 33% speed....

VLC Media Player + Sibelius 6 + Good Headphones = my formula to write out anything.
