Default Unconscious switch

I looked at my technique today and found out something interesting.

I've subconsciously and unintentionally switched to a middle finger fulcrum from an index finger fulcrum in my right hand.

I've no idea when I made this switch.. it's just weird. And all my strokes and speed feel completely normal.

Just wondering what this could possibly mean...

And have any of you ever made a switch like this? Unintentionally?

I used to NEVER feel comfortable using anything but the first-finger fulcrum, but lately the middle-finger fulcrum feels good too. Have you been working on relaxing your grip lately? When I made the switch from "super rudimental chops" hands to "super relaxed finesse" hands, I found that I could get away with many other little habits that I swore to myself were the road to a lack of control. I still haven't come up with any conclusions as to why it's okay or why they seem to work now, but that's when I noticed the switch....

weirdly enough, I haven't been working on anything specific. I just noticed that I now use middle finger fulcrum...

I haven't done any new exercises. It just sort of happened...

weird.

idk, I wouldn't worry about it too much unless its tearing your fingers up or causing you to play badly. I've know some really good drummers with some really really weird grips that seemed to work just fine for them.

Many different fulcrum grips exist...1st finger,middle,1st and middle and pinky grip. I use them all at different times. Depends on what I'm playing and volume(stroke). All can be used in French,German or American grip. Denis

You know, I think it's a good thing; I think it's your body automatically growing into the most economical and ergonomical way of doing things, kinda like the path of least resistance I guess.

LOAAADS of great drummers use this fulcrum man, no worries.
