Default New drummer for Paramore!!!

As you may have already heard the original drummer for the pop punk rock band "Paramore" quit nearly 2 weeks ago. I am aware that they have selected the ever versatile and talented Josh Freese to tour with them through South America. However, he is rumored to be nothing more than a temporary replacement. I would really appreciate it if you guys would watch both of my youtube videos of me playing their songs "Misery Business" and "Careful". Then please tell me your honest opinion. I would love the spot. I would also greatly appreciate your input!

Thanks guys here are the videos!

Watched the misery business cover. It's really good. My dream gig would be playing for simple plan.

Well sort've. I will be talking with them soon. I went ahead and recorded and posted the videos in good faith to show a little of what I am capable of. Thanks for watching! :)

No offense to you, but I would like to see Meytal Cohen get the drummer position of a band of this magnitude. She deserves more publicity imo. (even though her videos are clearly done in multiple shots, she still very talented.)

Sure, Cohen did a good job playing, and she looks good, but she didn't put any excitement into what she was doing. Great for the studio, but live? Do you want a model drumming or a rock drummer? No slight against her being a woman at all either, she played great. But a "show" is part of the gig.

In a band like Paramore, you have to give the audience something to watch, or they might as well stay home with the iPod and save the dough.

Good luck with the audition if you get one--and I hope you can keep up that intensity for about an hour at least :-)

I agree! I watched some videos with Cohen and I agree she has some chops. She has definatly practiced.

To me though she just doesn't have enough heart & soul. She looks like a machine. To be in a group like Paramore, like you said, you need to have that raw energy that keeps the crowd pumped and entertained.

Textbook drumming only gets you so far. But I am not knocking your opinion because I do appreciate and understand yours. I'll find out some more info on the group tomorrow when I get in touch with them.
Thanks guys!!

I think you played with a lot of enthusiasm and followed the licks very closely on Misery Business, (Careful has been taken off of YouTube).

I will say this - and it is not a critique of your playing as again you played it very tight - but for any drum cover its difficult to tell the difference between what the drummer is playing in the cover video and what the drummer is playing in the original recording. For example, at around 1:52-1:54 of the cover video it appears that the second eighth note of the two note lick on the snare is heard but not seen on the snare drum. Unless somehow the original drums are muted out its a bit like lip syncing - who is playing what?

I almost didn't want to post this but it is a forum and it is NOT a critique of your playing but rather of trying to present the cover drums in cover videos.

You played awesome - hope you get the audition.
