Default Pearl 12x7 Soprano snare vs. 12x7 Modern Utility

Hey Pearl fans: the Soprano can be had for ~$400 new, the Modern Utility for ~$140 (plus any shipping and such for each). They have the same hoops and are both maple. Here are the differences:

Soprano vs. Utility:

8 ply (not sure how thick) vs 6 ply (5.4mm)
8 lugs (CL100) vs 6 lugs (CL65)
SR018 vs SR700 strainer
S031N vs SNW1216 snare wires
SST5047 Stainless Steel vs TR5052 tension rods

Other than the Soprano I own, I really don't know a lot about the newer Pearl stuff. So are the 2 extra plies of maple, 2 extra lugs, different tension rods, and strainer worth the extra $260? (Please say yes because I've had my Soprano forever) ;-)
