Got a good one....

What two bands played at a certan festival in the early 80's that served as a platform to glam metal dominating the 80s?

I believe you are referring to Quit Riot and Motley Crue appearing at the US festival.

No one answered. Oh well...

Smith got a job touring with Montrose. Montrose and Journey did a string of dates together, and after watching Smith every night, they let Dunbar go and gave the job to Smith.

It was a follow up comment to my comment about the jazz song. I suggested "take five" but couldn't see the "youtube" answer.

I have one.

Who played drums on the Buzz Osbourne "solo" ep?

Yes, I do spread Melvins love around.

Should be easy if you needed someone to fight an unknown substance.

That's my clue.

That would be Stanley Clark, the last hint gave it away pretty easily. I'm a fan of his playing on the RTF albums, what is the new album he put out with two other bassists you mentioned?

Stanley Clarke is correct, he toured extensively with Jeff Beck from 1978 to 1980, alongside Tony Hymas and Simon Phillips, the band prepared what would become "There And Back", but Stanley was replaced on the album and subsequent tour by Mo Foster. :)

Simon Phillips also feature on Stanley Clarke's Rocks, Pebbles and Sand also released in 1980. :)

Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten band is called S.M.V. they have released an album called Thunder in 2008 :)

The Carpenter's drummer when Karen wasn't behind the kit was Carl "Cubby" Obrien, also famous for being one of the original mousketeers. I bet Bo would have gotten this one :)

Brilliant, never really heard a bass trio before. Marcus Miller is another great bassist, he plays some outstanding bass on Amandla.

You got 5/6 pol, good job.
Heh, I'm not bad with 70s prog and fusion. Such a nerd.

I used to have the first RTF album (every time I type "RTF" my fingers want to follow it with an "M"). Airto drummed magnificently on it - beautiful, tasty, flowing, airy rhythms with Latin tinged accents. Some of my favourite drumming ever.

Never known much about Danny Gottlieb but he's obviously brilliant if he's played with MO.

Acuna with Opeth. Interesting marriage - Latin fusion and prog.

It reminds me of Mingo Lewis (percussion for Al diMeola and others) joining The Tubes when they were playing art rock. He wrote an instrumental - God Bird Change - that was included in their Now album, which Al later covered.

A question, what was the name of the double live album by The Tubes, which included Mingo Lewis?

Hint: it was based on the title of one of their songs.

Not a grasshopper. A katydid.

Of course, you can't always believe a katy.
