BRANSON, Mo. - A professional musician died in a fire in his home on Thursday night near downtown Branson; his wife was still clinging to life on Friday night in a hospital’s burn unit in Springfield.* Fellow musicians say Chuck Landry was a great drummer and a lover of life who will be sorely missed.

Around 9 p.m. Thursday, fire ripped through the couple's home, killing Landry and leaving his wife, Regina, with burns over about half of her body.*

Landry's passing is felt especially hard at the Clay Cooper Theater, where Landry used to play drums for Mel Tillis.

"Great drummer; he had the best country shuffle in music, the best! He played a rim shot like a 30.06,” said R.P Harrell, a friend of Landry's.
