I'm actually a guitarist (18 years) but have always loved the drums and thought "what the heck now or never".

How did you start drumming?
Played snare drum in the school marching band. I then wanted to buy a drum set and join a band but my dad said NO and that I should rather play guitar because it's not as loud. I then got caught up with the whole guitarist thing but the drummer in me has always screamed to come out. Finally - I'M HERE!!

How did you start drumming? After moving to the United Arab Emirates, I was supposed to take up Piano again, but I didn't find it interesting; more of a forced instrument thing. Decided on drums instead, been playing ever since. My "teacher" wasn't too great of help, and I didn't stay with him for too long. Most of everything I've learned, I've done on my own.

Hello everyone, my name is David.
I'm down here in Houston, Texas.
I got behind the drums for the first time at 9 yrs old.
I got my first drum kit at 10 yrs old.
It was a red Peavey International Series II Kit.
I would practice every single day right after school and play for hours along to any casette or cd I fou d at the house which consisted if rock, pop and christian stuff.
I started playing at church at 11yrs old.
In middle school was where I met some musical friends and I was introduced to many more styles of music and took me to another level.
Started playing some gigs at 12 yrs old.
I got hired to play drums at a nice church at 14 yrs old.
Got my first kit with my own money at 15 yrs old.
It was a ebony Gretsch Renown Maple Kit.
Recorded drums on a album for the first time at 17 yrs old.
...I'm ninteen now. I continue to love playing drums. Im still learning.
I will keep playing as long as I breathe.

One really odd fact about yourself? Nothing odd that I can think of.......but I grew up listening to big band jazz from my dad, and his big band orchestra. But I'm a total metalhead.

How did you start drumming? Dad showed me a few licks. Older brother played too. Just a natural attraction.


Have around 20 albums that I played on, most known (to the metal heads) would be FIREWIND "Between Heaven & Hell" (this guitarist is now Ozzy's guitarist - Gus G is his name) and for those super hardcore metal lovers, SOLSTICE "To Dust". Interested in hearing some of it? It's all over YouTube. Do a search for those band names/album titles.

I'm sure like most of you, it's a never ending uphill battle trying to reach certain playing goals. Never a plateau!

Got back into it in 2010 when the old band decided to have a 33 year (?!) reunion gig. Got the bug for it again & now play in 2 bands.

What got me into drumming? When I was in 5th grade, I thought drums would help become more popular. So, my parents let me take a few lessons in 6th. It turned out that I love playing the drums, so I stuck to it.
