Some lovely drums, but what's the story about the hole in the Yamaha bass drum reso head?

The bass reso head is the original head.. unfortunately the owner before me thought it looked cool with a hole like that..

I think it gives it some character. It kind of shows that drums are meant to be played. Even though the drum is in great condition and it may or may not have an awesome story to go with it, it looks like it has a story to tell. In which case if it does please tell. I honestly think the Yamaha is my favorite, there is just something about the really old yamahas that I like. However every time one comes up for sale It is when I don't have the spending money. When I do have the money they never come up :-(

This Yamaha kit is lovely, it sounds great!
Yea, I also think that drums are meant to be played, they are not meant to be some museum objects! But still it would be nice to have an intact original reso head :)
