My favorite drummers aren't the guys you'd typically think of. They are:

Hal Blaine
John "JR" Robinson
Josh Freese
Lonnie Johnson
Matt Chamberlain

Guys like that - people you've heard, but may not even realize that you've heard because they do all of their work in the studio incognito.

I've been watching and listening to drummers for over 68 years.
I wish you had not said "of all time". Because that makes it impossible to answer.

May favorites are: My Dad, Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Dave Weckl, and whoever the next great drummer is that I learn to like.
I was in a small dive bar in California a few months ago. There was a three piece rock band who had a drummer that was just fabulous!
He is now one of my favorites too. But I'll never see him again..............

Animal!!! My first inspiration to hit stuff. Love him so much he is tattooed on my snare hand. Other than that, I can't pick just one.

I play EXACTLY what I want to hear.

I feel unclean saying that, but it's true.

Great a good question--not the best but a favorite. I've got lots of favorites-like Bernard Purdie, Tony Williams, Steve Gadd, Jeff Porcaro, Joe Morello come off the top of my head-and oddly enough I think of Jeff Indyke (like WTH??) cause he epitomizes something-I just can't think of what it is that drives the appeal. Yep another Art-ism.

The guy who consistently blows my mind is Simon Phillips.

The guy whose style I enjoy trying to emulate is Robbie McIntosh.

Bonham is my benchmark since I grew up listening to him.

However, Bernard Purdy is magic to me.

I have a hard time separating who I like to hear from who I like to watch.
when both factors are in play, a quick thought would be it's probably Papa Jo, Moonie, Discenzo, Coleman and Purdie.
Some people just have a certain special something that comes across when you see them play.

Neil Peart is pretty much my drumming hero but some of my other favorites include Ringo, Copeland, Bill Bruford, Mike Portnoy, Lars, and Jonathan Moffett to name a few.

In my teens it was Bonham and Peart.

In my twenties and thirties it was Barlowe, Bruford and Collins.

Now, it's guys like Dunbar, Fongheiser, Newmark and Purdie.

But I couldn't pick one if I had to... it's not ice cream, you know?

(But I'd probably pick Bonham.)

Very difficult. Given my username I have to say Brian Downey, so underappreciated and makes quite complex drum pieces look effortless behind the kit (he;s also a lovely guy as I found out after chatting to him at an Alive and Dangerous gig, happy to talk all things Lizzy and his drum influences)

But equally I will say Vinnie Colautia too. Reputation precedes him but his performance, especially on Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scotts, is astonishing, virtuoso playing with a real swing
