V-drums International Contest

Hey guys,

I've created this thread because I think drummers are interested in this relatively new international drum contest, so people can talk about what drummers they like at the contest etc.
I'm going to post some footage of last years contest (20 January 2012) and this years contest (11 april 2013). I'm actually one of the finalists this year (Benelux contestant) so I will update this thread with videos and photos (I've also created a youtube videoblog, see link below).
So let's start with a video compilation of last year (took place in LA); http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRYSEcK3em8

And 2 photos of some cool moments last year:

Actually I'm having a blog on Youtube for the preparations of the contest! So if you're interested here's my youtube channel; http://www.youtube.com/user/DrummerLarsNijman

This is me by the way (Lars Nijman)

Good luck in the contest - what sort of things do you have to do in the contest?

I'm a TD12 addict wondering whether the TD30KV is what I really need!

Hey Davo,

thanks! Well, the contest has actually a really simple concept: play a 5 minute drumsolo on the TD-30KV, SPD-SX and the Octapad (you can also use only the TD-30KV if you want).
I'm using the TD-30KV for a couple of months now and I have to say that it's definitely a really good electronic drumset. I made a couple of videos where I tested the TD-30KV, like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USLHofCbisk

Before I had the TD-30KV I was using the TD-9KX2, after playing the TD-30KV for the first time I just noticed that the TD-30KV had a really fast and good response. It's because of the new drumchip that's on the TD-30KV, it's 30% faster than the drumchips in the TD-20 and also the TD-12. But yeah, I would only buy a TD-30KV if I would perform with it, because it's still a lot of money!

Aww man, you have to use a TD-30KV and the other stuff to enter the contest? What if you don't have that stuff HAHA.... I only have a TD-8 :-(

No you don't have to really have the TD--30 to enter the contest! You can practice your music piece on the TD-8. When you did that you can just find a store in your region and explain that you're in the contest and ask if you could practice for a bit..
If you win the vdrums contest national finals you will get an TD-30KV yourself to prepare yourself for the International finals!

Oh cool. Probably my nearest Guitar Center has the TD-30 I would think..

Is there a link to the official contest?

This time I want to show you a video I've made a couple of days ago. In this video I'm interviewing one of contestants of the vdrums international contest last year (held in LA).
This is the link to that video (there are translations, make sure you've enabled annotations!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8DF7bzH4wM

In the video I'm also interviewing a Roland drum specialist about the history of the Roland company!

this is me, Chrisophe Cools (Roland drumspecialist) and Mick Gravee (last year's contestant)

Hey Guys,

This time I want to share a video of JP Bouvet, he was (besides the Guitar Center Drumoff) a contestant for the V-drums Worldwide Contest! He is also making videoblogs (just like me) about drum experiences etc. He made a pretty cool video about the whole V-drums experience, this is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42IcsGvphXM

If you have any tips for me or like what I do, message me please! I would really appreciate that..

Hey Lars,

Gefeliciteerd - congratulations! Excellent job, I guess you're looking at a nice drumming future.
