Look what I found cleaning my basement.

Came across this cleaning my basement.

According to this, a 6.5 X 14 Supraphonic retailed @ $199.00

As for the rudiment contest stuff it was probably just part of the educational pack because I don't ever recall being part of a contest.

With or without the Super Sensitive? We had one of those SS snares in my high school bandroom, I really loved how smooth I could get my rolls to sound on it.

Wow. I had that catalog back then! I used to pore through that one and the Slingerland on from 1978. Somebody .pdf'd a bunch of vintage catalogs and sold discs via eBay - but I wish I still had the printed copies!

I had no idea I even still had it. I do recall when I got it. The music shop was very reluctant to hand it over to a 15 year old punk with long(ish) red hair. I remember the guy telling me they had to pay for each catalog.

And would you know, Brighton Music Center is still in business, thought they are very limited in the percussion department nowadays. Last time I was in there they only had a few cymbals, one Ludwig Signet kit and one low end e-kit. Mostly guitars and lessons now. Back in the day I recall drums stacked upon drums everywhere.

I also had that catalog back in high school.
I used to stare at the pictures in it during classes.
We didn't refer to it as drum 'porn' back then but it obviously was!

That price is about right. I bought mine new in the early eighties and paid under $200 for it. Suggested retail is most always higher than the street price.

nice find lol should clean more haha

I'm trying, but it's a process. I'm trying to make a little room more for a guitar player and bassist.

They are going for about 40 bucks on ebay

But the true value is the memories of a long haired young lad dreaming of drums he can not yet afford.

This was about the time of my first "REAL" girlfriend. And this is probably why this catalog is in such good shape...

I've seen that in the past but there is nothing like flipping through the pages and the smell of an old catalog.

I wish I still had some of the stuff I had back then. I sold it all in one package deal when I went into the service (except for one pair of Ludwig 7A sticks and a practice pad).

Cool story bro :)

I wish I'd kept all my Modern Drummer magazines. Never had a catalog though.

Did you ever get the very drums you lusted after from that catalog?

Nothing from this catalog, though there are a set of 1968 Super Classic's and a 5 piece early 70's red cortex kit hanging out in my basement.
