Hello
Here is my Morrocan Bendir I picked up in Marrakech a couple of years ago. It has three string "snare wires" that result in a slight buzz when the drum is struck. (You can see the 3 strings in the second image which has back lighting.) The goat skin head has been painted on this drum. I am not sure how the detailing has been applied, but the outside of the drawings are raised as if the outline has been applied with a caulking gun or a baker's icing tube. You can see the raised profile of the outline in the first and third photos. In this part of the world, the evil eye is very real and you can see it clearly on the sole of the foot in the second image. My intention is to put a low temperature bulb or two inside it and hand it on the wall as a light.
