Show us your vintage Slingerland kits!

The story goes that this kit was in a closet for 30 years, not sure how accurate that is, but here are some pics. i don't think the finish is original but i dig it.Took a little time to gather a few missing parts but here she is all buttoned up and sounding fabulous.

Sweet Radio Kings Paradiddle Pete.

Here is mine, it's a 1965 with an 18" bass drum, 12" high tom, and 14" floor tom. Orginal matching snare.
I added some modern hardware to the bass drum from dw and Ludwig for tom and cymbal mounts. I also added a dw bass drum riser and modern floor tom legs and mounts from Gibraltar.

Nice! tha additions don't look out of place at all.

Thanks Pete, I would love to have a Radio King kit someday.
I just haven't found the right one yet.
Someday...

My first set of Slingerlands and my new kit for recording! Just got this a few days ago, haven't had time to set it up (not my picture). I'm still trying to date them exactly but I think 79-80.

6,8,10,12, 14, 18. 22x14 and 24x14 bass drums, 14" 12 lug snare. Custom ordered with Ludwig hardware.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that this was Don Henley's kit! I have the sensation I saw an advertisement somewhere on the net a few years ago with that exact kit and claiming it was Don Henley's kit: since my first professional kit was a Slingerland, I still tend to pay a lot of attention to this brand when I see pictures.

Anyway: love this set, and if it effectively was Don Henley's set you made an even greater find!

You might have seen it a few years ago when it was available, but this kit actually belonged to Phil Ehart of Kansas.

Phil Ehart, right! I knew I had seen it before, but was not sure anymore about the famous previous owner! I'm getting really old, my memory often fails! Anyway, great find, you're a lucky man! Will you show us new pictures?

So new pics but no new additions to the kit yet. These are the old Slingerland stands it came with, not too sturdy these days and I'll be getting rid of them.

40's Radio Kings 28" 13' 14' Ba, BA, BOOM! New rims, rods and legs on floor tom. The drums were in bad shape and in need of serious TLC. Refinished and set up to gig with.

70's WMP kit, 12/13/14/16/18/26, 12 and 14 not pictured. Went with g12 batter and g1 resos and they really sing.

Rewrapped 70's shells, work in progress.

My love for Slingerland started when I was a teenager with my first kit. I bought a 24,13,16 chrome over wood kit and added another 24, a 12,14,18 to complete the kit. I owned it for many years until I sold them off in 2002.
Now I'm into vintage drums:
70's WMP 22,13,16,14sn (sold)
70's BDP 20,12,16 (gig kit)
Slingerlands are WAY undervalued drums, a well kept secret!

Beautiful! My first kit was a Slingerland and I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for those.

I don't know if I agree with you on them being undervalued - there are a lot of them out there and people know what they're worth. If anyone finds a great deal, I'd jump on it ASAP because the price could go up the next time around!
