Yamaha Drums

I'm not going to quote all of the pictures, but wow! You guys have some awesome gear and music rooms! I'm really digging the pics.

Gotta love the RC (eventhough not my first choice, classic kits none the less)

I got some spare time and space this week, so it was time to come closer to my final favorite setup.

Those are some awesome drums! I like the shade of red, it's nice and vibrant!

Yeah, nice setup Wes. I really like the gong bass drum, always wanted to try that. I've never had enough space to try it out ! No kidding.
I've got an 18" floor tom that is perfect candidate too.

Wes,
How do you use the gong drum? I see you have mics in it and triggers on it.

GeeDeeEmm

Since its my 20x17 kickdrum, thats when I use all three of them. Th einternal kick mic for the attack, the Sub Kick for the low end and the trigger for electronic/percussive sounds like 808's, tambourines and what more.

For use as a gong I will probably use it the same only without the sub and a more low added trigger sound.

Yamaha/Akira's new signature snare is … a 1.0mm steel shell? Really?

Probably because of...

Resonance Control Binding

Featuring Akira Jimbo and Yamaha's newly developed Resonance Control Binding, the Akira Jimbo snare gives drummers more flexibility in as they search for their own sound. The Resonance Control Binding can be tightened or opened around the snare frame to cut out excess noise or adjust sustain, and used in a range of different configurations to give complete control over the resonance of the drum.

And Artists like Gadd, Weckl & Ndugu had a steel shell snare too.

And Japanese hand made:
The snare shell features a 1 mm ply that affords a tighter sound and feel by cutting out excess noise. The attractive exterior finishing is performed at the same factory as our flagship PHX Series, producing a drum that looks as good as it sounds.

Hard to tell how well the rope works really just from watching the video.
Interesting concept. I'd rely have to hear it / try it in person.

The price point will be a big factor here (I know it always is)…I might be interested if it's priced close to an average steel shell snare. If it's priced like a signature snare (double $$$) then good luck with that Yamaha.
I like it, just not that much.

The Yen price is 46.111,00 (363,226 Euro & 387,85 dollar) That is quite low for a Signature.

The App for the Multi 12 is amazing. It adds tons of stuff like the option to add big files (bigger then the internal memory can handle) and quick edit the (user) kits.

I use it on my iPad.

Hmmmm...the PIA programming is one of things that prompted me to get rid of my Multi 12. Maybe I'll have to reconsider one now.
