Coated Bass Drum Heads

do you need to use rubber beaters on a bass drum if using a coated bass drum head, i heard using felt beaters on a coated head destroys it for some reason.

can anyone help me here?

I've used a Coated Ambassador and a felt beater on my bass drum for years and I haven't noticed any damage or unusual wear from it. Plus, the felt beater / coated head combination is a killer if you're going for that warm vintage sound - I recommend it.

you could possibly destroy the head with any beater if you hit it hard enough, but the felt beater would cause the least amount of damage. If you're really worried about destroying a bass drum head, just get a patch for it.
