Evans New 360 Series-Very Nice

Just a quick word on the new heads, I use Remo for my toms but found through much experimentation and expense that the 2 snares I use work best with the Evans G Plus which is now known as the G 12 (not yet on their site), I put one on last night in about 3/4 faster time than normal. It was all tuned up and spot on just like that, drum dial users will find that there are very little or no discrepencies. My Remo are brand new but once they have reached their point of no return I would be tempted to throw on the G 14's.

I recently put on a new Evans Genera dry 360 on my snare. Went on quick, tuned up right where I wanted it with a few even turns. Tuning was right on the money, no muss, no fuss.

I just purchased two Evans Black Chrome heads. One is old stock and one is the 360. I can't tell any difference visually. I have not installed them yet.

I'm holding out for Evans 361's. :)

220, 221, whatever it takes. (obscure movie quote)

Just watched a YouTube review.

Is this what sonor were driving at with their undersized shells?

Mr. Mom!!

Love that quote!

Oh cool I struck a chord. Fun movie!

Last time I stock up on heads...new stuff might come out. Last year I got a bunch of Evans pre packs that I have to use up before I get me some new 360's.

Glad to hear that you guys are digging the new collar design!

Cheers

I know you might not want to hear this, but I just did not buy a set of replacement heads because I want the 360 versions now and the shops here want to sell the stock they have before buying another order. This means I won't be able to get the new tech until the shops sell out the old tech in the sizes I need.

I think Evans should either replace the old heads in shops with the new, or authorize a rebate program for those who are willing to get the old heads at a discount. This is frustrating for the end-users of your product, and with the amount of marketing going into this new 360 stuff, you should put a bit more focus into making sure it's widely available instead of the old tech. There's also the problem Larry mentioned where he stocks up himself. You should let him swap for the new. These are consumable products, and we will keep coming back if you keep us happy as customers.

I'm aware I could probably get them online, but I like supporting local shops.

I recall reading somewhere that Evans has been phasing in the new collar design for some time now, and most shops will have them stocked, even if they're not marked. Maybe I'm just touched in the head, and not remembering correctly though. So your safest bet is to ignore me and carry on as if I'd said nothing! That's generally a good rule, actually.

I believe EvansSpecialist will back me up on this, but according to Evans, they began the new L360s in Sept of last year, although not all were logo'ed heads.

Is there any way to see if new heads with old logos are the new technology? Any identifying markings on the collar or anything? Mine must be the old technology, I got them in Dec. 2011. Can I swap them?

If that's the case, all I need is a way to tell by the packaging. I keep hearing good things about this new setup and want to make sure I'm trying the right thing.

I was at a guitar center the other day and some of the Evans boxes are clearly labeled 360 along the spine

the collar will look very different .....completely different angle

That's correct! There are heads out there without the new Level 360 logo that have the same collar design.

Cheers!
