Default Overrated Drummers -who's on your list? Steve Gadd?

I didn't make this list up, so don't shoot me.

Top Ten Overrated Drummers

Shouldn't Neil Peart be on this list too?

Mostly nonsense although I agree with a couple of the inclusions.

Max Weinberg is underrated if he's only going on the Springstein stuff. He obviously never watched Conan. Amazing player.

I like Max because of his playing on Conan. I agree.

I think it's funny how he likens Gadd's drumming to a peanut butter sandwich. Would that be crunchy or creamy peanut butter?

As much as I deeply respect Neil, I will admit that Neil is overrated but as overrated as AC/DC. Can't believe I just said that but whatever.

I feel you, but I was just joking about Peart. I agree about AC/DC though. Now there is a peanut butter sandwich if I ever saw (heard) one.

I thought the article was funny. This Levy guy can certainly write a troll article, but I was chuckling all the way down the list.

It doesn't matter what anybody thinks of the guys on the list, I just thought it was fun reading.

Nothing but click bait.

Poorly written crap for the sole purpose of getting views so he can sell advertising.

Based on the author's profile, any on his list has made more in one night than he has since he was born. Still trying to figure out why anyone cares about his list!

They forgot Travis Barker and Joey Jordison..

They aren't bad by any means, but growing up that's all anyone talked about.

"TB is the best punk drummer ever! Better than any drummer!"

Or "Joey has the FASTEST DOUBLES EVAR! SO BRUTAL"

I've had "top drummer" lists pop up in my social media feeds many times. And 90 percent had Travis as number one.

Once way back in the mid/late 90's, my band somehow made it on a list put out by a church of bands you shouldn't listen to.

We were pretty proud to make the list, given all the other bands on the list were well known.

I wish I had a copy of that list now. lol

Best, worst, over/under rated lists are simply a trolling exercise by the author of the list. Its subjective, get over it.

Not Gadd but it's Max Weinberg he likened to a peanut butter sandwich.

Also why aren't Buddy Rich and Dave Weckl on that list. Clearly the worst players to have ever picked up sticks. Can't keep time, no chops. Honestly, that white haired Korean drummer Kwon Soon Keun playing 'My Way' at a wedding runs circles around them. Just the stick twirls alone are a masterclass.

Oh yeah, right! Who the heck calls it a peanut butter sandwich anyway? It's peanut butter and jelly, dammit. Who has a sandwich with peanut butter alone? Friggin' dumb author...

Oh I do. Yum! :) And over here it's peanut butter and jam. Jelly is something fruity and wobbly we put into trifles. But we digress :D :D

In Mu-Mu Land we eat peanut butter on slices of apple. It's great, try it.

(I am entirely convinced that this is the best possible contribution I can make to this thread)

I saw this on the side of Facebook I think. Nothing but click bait for Facebooks millionaire owner. I didn't even bother. I am over polls. Out of all of the drummers he limited it to 10?

One's overrated list is another's list of drum gods.

I'm not touching this one.

I agree with Bo that it's a pretty funny article at times. Tappy McTapperston - :)

Basically, it's a list of terrific drummers and/or entertainers of varying styles and abilities, along with some roasting.

I much prefer the merits of discussing peanut butter sandwiches. I do prefer jam over jelly, but my favorite is peanut butter & sliced banana sandwiches with honey drizzled over the bananas, or chocolate syrup & marshmallow creme.

(making me hungry!)

It just seemed like a fun list to tear apart because it seemed offensive. (Talking smack on Gadd, c'mon now...)

We are in a bubble in the USA, that's for sure. I noticed this when I went to Europe and was watching CNN. Outside of the USA, it's the world news. The American CNN is quite different, and more dismissive of the rest of the world.

I do that sandwich too except I lightly toast the bread and butter it before applying the peanut butter and the rest of the ingredients. I don't do the chocolate syrup but I do put some marshmallow creme on it. I put a little salt on the jam to give it that salt/sweet taste.

Being over rated is over rated.

I think internet lists are just to upset people.. no one can make a list that 3 people will agree on. I won't name any drummers that i think are overrated (i'm trying to be more positive and less assholey this year)

But i will say anyone that thinks Gadd is over-rated has never sat at a kit or really listened/watched him.. i constantly see things in his videos that just make me go WTF?! amazing..

Arghhh. Toast with peanut butter does not need any extra butter. I like one slice with peanut butter and one with Marmite. Do you have Marmite in the US?

Yes, Marmite. They mine it for it's abrasive qualities. They use it in diamond polishing, if memory serves.

C'mon, you know I just can't resist setups like that.

:)

What is Marmite again?

Marmite is.. awesome. It's a black gooey yeast extract, a very rich and dark taste. Only a small amount is needed on bread. People either love it or hate it. And we have a saying over here where the brand name has become a word to describe something that people will take to or not. "That movie is a bit marmite".
