pain in thumb

hey all

I've been drumming for almost 2 weeks now
I don't have any drumers where I live so I have to ask it here
scince yesterday my thumb hurts when I bend it
so I think i don't hold the drum sticks properly

You're holding the stick fine. Your problem is probably holding the stick to tight? So question do you have a death grip on your stick or are you losey goosey?

I had some pretty big pain in my left thumb from hitting the snare and it was basically from holding the stick too tight. Once I figured out how to hold them loosely, the pain went away.

I also went through a process of dropping/throwing sticks alot when holding loose, but you figure that out too on your own.
