well i thought i would give it a try. it sounded great in the store i liked it better than the cheaper roland i mean the one for arouns 1000 hope i made a good choice

i also got a simmions 50watt drum amp.

Let your ears be your guide…if it sounded better to you, then I'm sure you'll like it..also, with the DTX500 module you'll be able to upgrade to the TCS pads if you so desire and the higher end yamaha e-cymbals are much more reasonable (than roland) as well and every bit as good (actually just a little quieter on the stick noise as well, which is a good thing)….

+ 1 on the TCS pads. I have a TP100 Yamaha rubber pad. I find the rubber pads grab the sticks some. Kind of hard to explain. TCS pads are also quite a bit quieter.

Either way, you still have a great kit. Enjoy! There irate some things about the DTX500 module that seems more intuitive than the DTX700 module - at least through the manuals.

It is a good kit Anaconda. Enjoy it.

I'm sure you'll have tons of fun with it.

I got just the DTX500 module, converted some acoustic stuff, and plan on adding E-cymbals to it when I get around to it.

I'd also like to get one TCS pad to use for the snare.

Enjoy your new kit Anaconda. The DTX500 sounds amazing, especially on presets Beech Custom and Maple Custom, and through good headphones. Those two presets alone represent some of the best electronic drum sounds including all modules and VSTs. Sure the TCS snare would be superior for rolls but unless you play serious jazz that nice soft bouncy quiet Yamaha rubber is fine to play on for hours unless you grip your sticks too tightly (incorrectly) or hit too hard. Plus that module can do much more, so you can add a TCS snare and a 3-zone ride later if you like. So good luck and enjoy the Yamaha!

dont know if i could make it a 7pc kit yet 5 toms,snare and kick. maybe 1 more cymbl
has anyone do this yet with the dtx500 series.?

The tom inputs on the DTX500 module are dual mono. So at a bare minimum you will need a Y adapter (single stereo to dual mono). From there, you plug in your pad, tap it a few times, the DTX500 module should pick up the pad automatically by displaying it on the LED display, and then from there you assign the voice.

Considering they are only single voice inputs, you may not want to spend the money on a 3 voice with controller pads for your Toms. Mind you, all the 8 inch plus toms are 3 voice and to me look better the the 7 inch single voice versions. It depends if you are high maintenance though and have to have the looks too

I added a pad to my DTX700 pad 11 input. It came up as "pad11". It threw me off though at first because the default sound was a cymbal. I had switched it accordingly.
