This Mayor feels and worries about no idle threats, especially from a female from a penal colony down under.

And Henri if you are going to change your name and avatar might I suggest a blouse and skirt to go along with it.

Hey Grunt... look at it this way: You're still the only Mayor in DW forum, your way, your rules, that has to count for something, no?

And I immediately relinquish my annagrammed Mayoral status back to you...you are a much better Mayor than moi. And I make a much better MaryO :)

Anyways, I still have 9,406 more posts until I have to worry about anagramming out of my responsibilities...lol.

All Hail the Mayor, Gruntersdad!

Hi Anon La whatever, Ply isn't it?

You have a very sexy name. Are you French? LOL.

I'm an unemployed drummer/composer with lots of time on my hands. I'm 5'11, 160 pounds, I have a sort of stringy neck, and some flab about the middle. I hide it pretty well, though.

My interests are boating (strictly on an basic level, sadly), walking around the block as fast as I can, and drumming along to American Idol.

Anon, may I call you that, Anon? Such a pretty name. It really turns me on. LOL. Anon turns me on. See, it rhymes. LOL.

Gawd, a lot's been going on of late.

Henri's grown boobs, learned to sit like a yogi and has not asked to marry me.

Andy's reaching for the Viagra (not sure if these events are related),

Mary is learning to distinguish cymbals from giant cockroaches (maybe not so easy until you test their respective sonic qualities)

Baz is almost 9,000 posts away from officially declaring that he has no life

Luke thinks a Polly post of 20202020202020 would be a fitting anti climax ... as opposed to the 9,999 anti climax. Luke, I prefer it my way. If "Polly" does one extra post then it can't be undone. In this case - like any enthusiastic musician - I will build the tension and maybe, like Ornette or Henry Cow, never actually resolve it ...

Aaajn attempts to goad "Polly" into posting:

Quote:
Don't you think Ringo is the ultimate turd? And as far as Aynsely Dunbar, God, can't even spell his name right. What do you think?

Also, is it hot in Australia? Are the Cockaroaches really big or are they photo shopped? Which way does the toilet bowl swirl?
Re: Ringo - pah! Re: Aynsley (aka Aynsely ) - did I do a typo? Up north, yes, it's hot in Australia (much warmer than Transylvania). As for Sydney http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney#Climate

No, that cockroach is real - my pet roach, Klaus. He's a brown pointer, has been toilet trained, and has been neutered (my home can't fit too many of his ilk). Our toilets don't swirl - they just kind of push the water (and waste products) down the pipe.

unfunkyfoot appears to have found religion.

The Mayor tells us who's boss and then says he doesn't want to be boss.

In the face of a Mayoral proclamation MaryO immediately and shamelessly rolled over.

Groove 1 has been inordinately nice to me.

Diego too. It should be said that Sticks4Drums had a very good reason not to go the anagram route.

J ... J, J, J ... what are we to do with you? Unemployed drummer/composer ... what girl could resist the prospects of such a lifestyle?? Oh, I see, I'm supposed to provide the lifestyle. That sounds like work.

Yeah, I liked the French angle on ALP too ... kinda sophisticated.

Funny thing about the 50s - your neck goes stringy. It remember seeing that in my big sister when I was in my 40s and figuring that that wouldn't happen to me. The skin gets so thin it becomes kind of crepe-y (creepy) as it hangs loosely over the various tendons and whatnot in your neck.

Getting old rocks.

Polly I love ya hon. But you have to cross the line. Think of your legions...anticipating...O the sweet sweet joy of anticipation...

Think of Henri. That man spent at least 20 years planning, writing, arranging, deleting, rearranging, and agonizing over this thread. He went all around the neighborhood, garnering support...all...selflessly....for our beloved Pollyanna. NOT ANON LA PLY! He planned you a surprise party and here we are waiting behind the collective couch to yell Surprise! and you went ahead and knowingly had an identity change. No wonder he hasn't asked to marry you! Poor guy! I can just picture it, Henri will plan a beautiful elegant night of primal satisfaction, complete with a fully stocked toy chest and including cameo appearances by your personal favorite men....and knowing full well what he's planning, you decide to go out with your two bit no good drinking buddies, thumbing your nose at poor Henri as you drive away. How could you?

That's not the Pol I know. And don't forget, we can always lobby Bernhard or Bermuda to goose you post count by one.

I just don't have the love for Anon La Ply. That entity kidnapped that which was near and dear to my heart.

But don't worry about us, it's cool.

:)

Wow Larry, a beautiful plea to our beloved Polly. If that doesn't bring her back and push her over the line, then I fear she's been lost to us for good....

Seems like everyone's been getting into the Freebird juice!

Larry ... Larry old son ... Larry me lad buddy bud bud ... clocking over the 10k is like playing a hero fill in Billie Jean. It would be "because I can" without any sense of lyricism or occasion.

So I've decided to play this tune with restraint. No fills, no frills, no thrills, no pills - just a straight down the line identity swap on the eve of what (bizarrely) has become a momentous occasion.

If I jumped straight into that 10k, that would be a egregious insult to poor Henri, who slaved his fingers to the bone. It would be like gulping down a gourmet meal in two seconds or sculling a 100 year old bottle of fine wine. I'm doing this for him. The ultimate sacrifice!

Actually, I'd decided on this little game about 500 posts back. I almost cracked after seeing Henri's masterwork but then decided that I should not let decency, compassion or empathy get in the way of a lark.

That's a pretty accurate description Larry... at the exeption of the planning time of course, totally unrealistic... I was BORN to do this tribute for the Mighty Pollyanna, it's the true meaning of my humble existence, so a time scale of 54 years planning time is more accurate...

... having said that, my foreseing destiny has been somehow put to a halt by the very one I worship, and I will be doomed for the rest of my life...

... seriously, I'm glad I uploaded this tribute with some anticipation of Pollyanna reaching the 10K milestone, at least I had the privilege to have a reply from our beloved Polly, had I choosen to wait for the "mythic" post... well, I would still be waiting and wondering "what the hell is happening"...

I was born in 1958... lol, ...sorry, just kidding...

When I decided that it would be cool to celebrate Pollyanna's 10 000 posts, she still has well over a thousand posts to go, so I had sufficient time to think of a concept to create a party/tribute about her imput and drumming on this forum, and at that time, I shared the project idea with Andy (KIS) and Ian Williams as to what would work, of course they helped with good suggestions. :)

I started contacting members accross the forum when Polly still had about 990 posts to go, and it never stopped until a couple of hours before the surprise thread was uploaded.

So, I was fairly ahead of you Pollyanongreaply :)

I like the Billie Jean analogy, it's a good exemple...

No Anon... Larry and many other members within this thread do not want Pollyanna to play an inapropriate fill in that song, no matter how well executed, what they want is the full song... as it stands now, someone (Grea?) has press the "pause" button on the CD player, and we can't hear the last 10 seconds of the song...

I see I am extremely late to this party. Oh well, seems like we've got quite a bit of time on our hands before the eventual 10k post celebrations! Eternity, or whenever Polly gets bored of this game, whichever is the sooner.

I can't play that game. Prleyq. Reqlyp. It's just no fun. I invite anybody to submit a good anagram of my username. The prize will be my undying respect, and that's normally very expensive.

What can I say that has not already been said? Artist formerly known as Pollyanna, I admire your dedication to the art of internet discussion. I've been a contributor to this forum since before you even signed up and yet you have somehow made five point six eight one two five times as many posts as me. An impressive achievement by anyone's reckoning. We have stalwarts like yourself to thank for the establishment and maintenance of Bernhard's dinner-party atmosphere here in this, the undisputed Elysian Fields of the drumming internet. Well done, and here's to another 9,999 posts.

I can't believe I missed that. Q must be short for Question! It makes so much sense!

Good point, Henri. Well played. Both you and Larry have put forward heroic cases for gifting this forum with one more dropping ...

BUT ... I have chosen a prog ending. Think of I Want You (She's So Heavy), One More Red Nightmare or Lament. It's an important prog device - create tension and never resolve it ... or at least make the listener think it will never be resolved ...

These prog players were making a social comment - flying in the face of convention, whose creeping tendrils wrap and choke the creativity from our very souls.

Something like that, anyway ...

Look at your username more closely; I have faith in your ability to untangle this massively complex puzzle that I have laid out.
I quite like it as "shorty".

Henri, has sent me a theory on this based on the French. If he's right, you guys have seriously oblique minds!

Nice work, Doc.

Ben, you have an instant hip hop moniker! "The artist formerly known as Pollyanna" ... I like :)

I laughed when I read "I admire your dedication to the art of internet discussion". It made me wonder if we can ever truly escape becoming our parents.

You probably remember that my mother was a writer. Apart from short stories, book reviews and columns she had a rep as a prolific letter writer and people were always saying how they enjoyed her letters.

Meanwhile, internet discussion has largely replaced letters so it seems I'm like Mum. I'm imagining how life would have been had I inherited something useful like being a tycoon, mastering all the positions of the Kama Sutra or, dare I say it, serious musical talent.

Instead I'm just good at yapping on forums ... what a calling in life LOL

Yep......it's called soccer. And unresolved tension is the sole reason why the crowd goes on a rampage, stepping on skulls, destroying property and setting cars alight.

Forget the "anti DW" petition. I'm gonna start a petition demanding the milestone post or the crowd turns its anger from John Good to Anon La Ply!!

I don't know about J... but it has become a habit for me to read a lot and a lot and a lot and a lot and ALOT *grin* of the postings by Pollyanna, so I guess I'll find (make) the time to read (hear) yours, if you ever decide to tell us about old rocks :) ...and I wouldn't mind reading that 10k post from Pollyanna either...

Oh please please let me do that!! :) :) :) I'm uniquely equipped to do that. I have a 4:05 just ready to pounce when you least expect or want it. I'll even leave the backbeat out & give it to "Sunshine" instead :)

My my, look at the strategies to get that final post. Should The Beatles have done a big finish to I Want You instead of the quirky sucked-by-a-vacuum-cleaner ending? Sacrilege!

1. Pocket chooses the age old approach - threats of violence. In this case and angry mob with flaming torches and pitchforks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zw5pmDgWMaU

I am not afraid.

2. Next is Henri's emotional blackmail, suggesting that my holding out is threatening his sanity.

I'm ok with that. Sanity is overrated :)

3. Andy - master of drumming blasphemy - appeals for delegation. Actually, it seems more like an appeal to draw mustachios on Rembrandts. Tragically, I know exactly where you're coming from.

Well I am left with the embarrassing dilemma of having to ask for the Key to the City back for the first time in my tenure. The key was presented prematurely it seems and has left this Mayor speechless. Most citizens or celebs have always been gracious and accepted without issue. I will convene the body electorate to determine whether or not to recall the key. Tisk risk.

Edit. I think I shall petition the Admins to dig into the scratch pile and reload a few of Pollys older posts just to bump her over the 9999 mark. We have are ways you know.

Love it!!!! Note: new signature ;)

I've come up with a creative celebration idea too, I'll be putting Ginger's "Sunshine" beatwork to "Billie Jean". How's that for squaring the circle, lol!!!!

You and the Mayor of Adelaide, South Australia: http://www.smh.com.au/technology/tec...430-1xtrn.html

This had caused much giggling Downunder. And if Pol can get a hundred large for the key to DW....more power to her. :-)
