Default Octopad

Hi everyone,
Just joined the forum , first post so here goes.
I'm currently considering trying an Octopad out in my kit set up, we play quite a lot of Rush material so am trying to find something to help give the songs a more authentic feel re chimes , blocks etc . Can anyone tell me if the Octopad has any of these sounds/effects built in ?
Thanks

Hi Straumer,

Yes - a Roland SPD-20 (now obsolete) has over 700 percussion sounds - pretty much anything you'd want - I have one of these and they are very good. An SPD-30 has nearly as many but it also has the ability to create loops. Yamaha make a similar "octapad" that has 9 pads... and it is reputedly very good too. I'd avoid the cheaper options.

Don't forget to consider the SPD-S. It doesn't have as many pre sets as the octopad, and the name isn't as cool, but you can sample any sound you want from your iPod/ cd/ the Internet etc
