Default How To Get A Dry Sound Outta Your Snare?

I was watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUlMZ...eature=related and I really like the sound of that snare. How do I get it?

Just crank the crap out of any coated single ply and a little moongel... yep, that should do it.

I use an Evans Genera Dry head to dry out my wood snares. Great skin.

i use a genera dry snare head too. it really does give a nice dry sound with no need for a moongel.

you'll notice in that video that the snare has a pretty big piece of tape or other muffling material on it. that'll dry out the sound quite a bit.

It wouldn't surprise me if my perception is totally backwards, but the snare in the video provided by the OP sounds more "wet" to me than "dry."

To me, the snare sound in "Bad Obsession" by Guns N' Roses is the perfect example of a nice, crisp and dry snare sound.
