Default Ludwig Accent or Rockers for a 12 pack

Yep, a buddy of mine from HS I just reconnected with on Facebook wants to get rid of his kid's Ludwig drum set after about 15 - 20 years sitting in a closet. He knows I refurbish drums and he was "offering" to give it up for a 12 pack of Amber Ale, since his wife wanted them out of the house.

Trade a 12 pack unitl his wife caught wind of it and "thinks" it's worth more and now she's bitching about it.

We'll see about it Saturday when we're supposed to meet up....

Well, I just got a TXT his wife is asking $50.00 since his dad bought them new 4 years ago.

Waddya think? Worth $50.00? Drums plus hardware and cymbals.....

Heck yeah, a snare stand and a drum throne alone are worth $50. If you do nothing but turn the kit around and sell it, you should be able to triple or fourple your money, which is better than any bank can do for you over a two week period.

That's what I was thinking. I was just stung going from a 12 pack of beer to $50.00. Haha!

I'd give him the $50 and the 12 pack. I'd also help him drink it!

We'll meet up at a bar where a mutual friend's band is playing this Saturday. Hopefully I'll have pics to post soon. All I know is it's wrapped in red metalic and the heads are sort of beat up. It's funny, the MRS. is demanding the kit be gone soon, but she's also demanding some money from it. I'm beginning to think she wears the pants around that house. LOL

I picked up the kit Saturday night at our agreed-to bar. A mutual friend was playing with his band.

For $50 I think I scored! Here's the details:

It is a 4 year old 5 piece Ludwig Accent Combo kit in red wine color with an assortment of cymbals. The ride, crash, and hats are all the Pulse cymbal brand. There was an A Zildjian 8" splash, a Sabian HH 10" splash, and a Zildjian ZBT heavyweight bottom hat mixed in with the Pulses. I'm either selling the Pulses or giving them away. I'm keeping the others. The ZBT hat is quite heavy so I want to see what kind of sound I get using it on bottom with a Paiste on top.

The hardware is in great shape and came with 1 double-braced cymbal stand, one double-braced hihat stand, and a double-braced snare stand. (No throne or kick pedal but that's ok.)

Get this, the only thing wrong with the entire kit is the heads are still the original manufacturer's heads that came with the kit that say Ludwig. And are pretty much beaten to a pulp. The Zildjians and the Sabian cymbals need a good cleaning, as does the kit, but it's mostly just dust and some grime that comes off easily.

Otherwise the kit is in excellent condition.

For only $50 I think I stole it. I'm happy!

Sounds like a deal but how did they go from 15 -20 years in a closet to 4 to 5 years old?

My guess is a time warp.

That was the information passed along at first. The seller said they'd been in storage for many years.

The two splashes alone are worth $50. Nice score indeed!

Thank you! Funny way I came about this kit. My fiance designs custom jewelry and I took the metallic wrap off 4 shells I bought to stain, so I just gave her the wrap to use as she pleased. She posted a staus on Facebook saying how she may use this wrap in her off-beat jewelry designs. My buddy I got the kit from was on FB and saw her post and asked what to do with a 5 piece kit sitting in his closet. He said his wife was on him to get rid of it by any means. One thing led to another and I got it.
