Not personally, but I've seen discussion of something similar on here recently, I think.

What kind of kit is it? What drum mount are you using? On my Mapex kit, I have all my drums at the very end of each L-rod, to hopefully gain the most resonance.

Probably need to tune it differently for the mount. Although I've never had that problem. I pretty much tune the drum before I mount it on anything and it sings the same way regardless of what I stick it on. And I've owned the Sonor Force 3007 - that kit almost sang too much for me ;)

Thanks guys!!!! my problem lied mostly in tuning, i took both reso and batter off and re-tuned and it sings much better, although if i take them off the rack and hold em by the rim it does sing even better but i have yet to play with hight from floor/angle/position on the l-rod so hopefully i can get em to open even more, just annoying, before i put em on the rack they were on cymbal stands and they just pounded like crazy, btw i have a mapex meridian birch, 8-10-12 on the rack 14-16 floor ill post pics shortly, thanks again!!!! love this forum!!!! you guys rule!!!

I had this same problem w/ my 12" rack tom. I have a DW BD mounted tree w/ L arms. I changed it so the L arms pointed at the kick instead of the ceiling and it helped a lot.

Tbh, the head makes a difference too, Single-ply / 2-ply? Im using stock head's single ply, and they sing quite alot... TAPE IS MY FRIEND.
I play rock mostly, so a 10seconds singing 10' tom isn't my favo.

If you have a 10 foot tom it's bound to ring, lol. Most resonant problems can be cured by different tuning and mounting of the drum. Just experiment a bit.

I do the opposite- as far down the L-rods as I can get them. The drums wobble much less this way, and for my gear, doesn't affect sound at all.

Not that I don't believe you, but I don't see how turning the L-rods downward affects the drum at all.
