Default Polyrhythms and certain genres

I like to work on different styles of music, and I've noticed that certain polyrhythms go with certain styles of music more than others.

For example jazz swing is very amenable to 5 vs 4 polyrhythms. It is almost as if whenever some talks about that swing that is somewhere between a triplet and a sixteenth, they are referring to tied quintuplet.

In salsa the 3 vs 4 is every where.

Samba is a varied style, but partido alto slips into 7 vs 8 really easily.

I wonder if anyone else has noticed this.
