Default Deal or No Deal ???

Just picked up this PDP copper snare drum. 5x14, 10 lugs with standard PDP throw/butt plate. All in very good condition. They don't make this anymore for whatever the reason. Paid $120 for it and wondering if any of you ever played or owned one. Good deal or not???

Looks cool, how does it sound? I'd say good investment for $120.

Got it to the drumnasium (my studio) tuned it up and it sounds great. Has a good crack to it yet not overpowering. Guess it's true what I've heard about copper snares. They have a warmth, sort of like wood yet cut through like... well...like metal. Good deal all around. Now I'm wondering how to go about getting the copper to tarnish more like an old penny. Maybe even with some green oxidation for an aged look. Probably has a clear lacquer over the copper that would need stripped. Meanwhile just play it and be happy.

Cool deal. I've been looking for one of those myself. I just wonder if there are any bolt on aftermarket lugs that will bolt right on and replace the PDP lugs ? Hope you enjoy it. Sound clip would be nice.

I was thinking of replacing the lugs too. The PDP lugs just seem overpowering on a 5" drum. Tube lugs would fit in nicer. Hole spacing on the PDPs is 1 3/8". I looked on ebay and closest so far is 1 1/4".

Thanks for the hole spacing measurements. The PDP lugs have stopped me from buying a PDP snare. And have been the reason for selling a nice PDP CX kit.

Drumfactory sells tube lugs of all sorts of sizes, for good prices.

Deal! That's very cool looking, I've never seen those before. If you like the sound $120 was an excellent price. I actually don't mind the PDP lugs but that's a matter of taste.
