Default Your Favourite Songs To Cover / Play Along To

Just a thread that I haven't seen before and thought might be a nice idea to have. Maybe some people can discover some songs that they may enjoy.

Some of my favourite songs to cover are:

Coheed and Cambria - Mother May I
Incubus - Nice to Know You
Deftones - You've Seen The Butcher

What are yours?

If I ever sit at the kit to play along to songs, a few faves:
1. Charlie Freak - Steely Dan
2. Can't Get Enough - Bad Company
3. Turn it on - Genesis

Great idea!

One of my recent favorites is Fool in the Rain by Zepplin, which is just a classic groove that feels great to play. I also love Grace and Last Goodbye by Jeff Buckley. There is nothing complex about them, I just love the songs and the drumming.

When I just want to sit and groove, it doesn't get better than Earth, Wind, & Fire's Sun Goddess, September, and their cover of Got to get you in to my life. Love that stuff.

Lately I've been liking Georgia on a Fast Train by Billy Joe Shaver, but for a classic I really like Summertime Blues by The Who.

My band plays Love Shack and I take the male vocal part.

Such fun to play and sing. Enthusiasm is key!

If I just want to groove and work on improvising I usually put up any tune by Ole BÝrud or Two ton shoe. They really get me in the right mood!

One day, when I can actually play this, I'll think I can actually play. Until then I'll keep trying.

I run the spectrum I think......

Peace Love and Understanding - Elvis Costello
Sample in a Jar - Phish
50 Ways to Leave Your Lover - Paul Simon/S&G
White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
Magic Carpet Ride - Steppenwolf
Mustang Sally - Various
Grey Street - DMB
Moondance - Van Morrison
Only the Good Die Young - Billy Joel
Country Road - James Taylor (Vega's Live Version)
Master of Puppets - Metallica
Good Times Bad Times - Led Zep

And if I'm working on shuffles, dynamics and playing for the song, anything from SRV.....for example "Little Wing".....

I love playing to James Brown and john mayer (mostly because I love jamming with steve Jordan.) tracks. I also like playing to pick up the pieces. Another thing that I will do is just turn on the radio and just jam to whatever comes on.
