Default Hand cramping? (marching snare)

So this is my first year playing marching snare, and two days ago I got home from a three day band camp, and since then, I haven't been able to practice because every time I try to pick up my sticks and play, the muscles on the right side of my left palm (from just below the pinky finger to the end of my palm) cramp insanely and it hurts so bad that I just can't keep playing!

Does anyone know how to relieve this cramping/stop it from happening???

I need to practice before tomorrow. I need to get the rest of the second movement down but my hand just will NOT cooperate

Please, if anyone can offer some advice, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Try some massaging and heat pads.

In all honesty I don't think that will work because your deadline is so tight. Cut your losses and drop out injured or suffer through the pain and possibly make it worse.

Usually daily supplements of magnesium, potassium, and vitamin C,along with 6-8 glasses of water a day will do the trick. You may even be slightly dehydrated, which would lead to cramping also.

A visit to your primary care doctor would be a good idea, with some blood and urine tests.Thats the only way to know for sure, since, most drummers aren't doctors.

Thanks for the advice!

Though, the deadline is just until our next practice, not a performance or anything, so i don't have to drop out o.o

I have tried some massage, but I'm going to try to drink loads of water and have someone else massage my hand and use the heat pad. I really hope this works! I'm pretty nervous :p

How's your technique? I'm in no position to judge you as I have no idea what your technique is like, but maybe look at being more relaxed in your playing. I sometimes get thumb pain in my right hand if I play intense stuff for a while, and it's always because I'm being too tense.
