Finally! Ludwig has decided to follow MY lead on something new this year at NAMM. It's about time somebody listened to the little guy ;)

That Ludwig kit is lovely. Kudos to whoever set it up, because it looks like it's ready to have someone just sit down behind it and play it.

I don't like wood hoops on Ludwigs.

I didn't want to say it about your kit Bo, but I'm OK with saying it about a NAMM display.

EDIT: wait a minute. Maybe it wasn't Ludwigs. Hard to keep up with Bo's revolving door drum kits - ha ha.

I am also not a huge fan of wooden hoops, since in my opinion they make a drumset look kinda flat..

Unless they look like this..:

Thats true, regarding the sound many people are very positive about them..

Allthough i always have the feeling that the difference will be more notable on the snare drum than on the rest of the set..

But i have never heard 2 identical drumsets next eachother, one wooden hoops and one not, to compare that..

I love the look and sound of wood hoops.I have two C&C kits with wood hoops (and traditional 2.3mm steel hoops) and there absolutely are sonic differences.

Don't let them skimp on your royalties check. We all know they saw it here first!

As for wood hoops, I'm on the fence. On some kits I think they are gorgeous, on others they look ugly. It's more of a color issue for me.

Those ayotte maple snare drums are, to this day and if my memory is not playing tricks on me, the sweetest I have ever played.

When I was younger and strapped for cash, I would go to the drum shop and wait until the salespeople got too busy, snatch a pair of sticks from under the counter and play the snare which would inspire me to play musically if that makes sense.

Whole kits were setup on higher shelves, but the snare drums were easily accessible.

When I finally got the cash for it, I showed up to the shop but of course they had just sold.

If anyone has one to sell (the thick 20-plys or so maple version), I would be interested.

Sad story this Ayotte business.

They look good on THAT kit, but I'm not a fan overall.
I do love the natural wood though. Wraps suck! (there...I said it). :-D

I like Bo’s Gretsch set a lot better, I can’t put my finger on it but the finish is slightly different and is something special

But Bo should definitely add another floor tom, have a proper blues kit

I wish. I’d have a heckuva time trying to find a matching floor tom!
