Bossa Nova -- in 7/4

I always felt this song fell naturally in 7/4.

Just drums bass and vocals with a flugelhorn solo.

I feel a "drum set" bossa needs to be relaxed and light, which I strived for here. Nothing fancy here.

And although when recording the vocals were done separatly, I've sung this playing bass and playing drums, and yes, if you get lost, you're screwed! lol

and yeah the 7 is very transparent.....feels very natural

your voice has a real classic timbre and suits the music well

Transcriptions? Eeks. On drums? Nah, the whole thing is just improvised -- a basic clave' bossa nova beat (one brush, one stick) with one less best on the second measure.

It's all pretty much first take. (I think I may have punched in a spot or two on the bass). The trumpet player came in and nailed the solo in one take. You just have to get a feel for the seven beats, then it falls into place naturally.
