If you've only been playing for a few years then you should start out with something simple, and something you already listen to and know well. Forget Tool....for now anyways. Although they might be a lot of these other drummer's favorite band, Danny Carey is an amazing drummer that is known for writing complex, innovative, and "out of the box" type stuff. Not a good beginner to even intermediate choice. I'm not going to recommend anybody because like I said, it should just be somebody that you listen to and know already. I would also say, save the money you would spend on drum "tab" books, and buy a nice pair of "studio style/over the ear" headphones. You'll do much better with an iPod and pair of nice, loud headphones then with sheet music (my opinion). I WILL say, you're heading in the right direction though. After a few years of "dinking around" myself, I decided to start trying to play other people's music. It was a great choice. It will teach you a lot; timing, keeping up with, and playing along with other "musicians" for one. Also, it will help you to develop a "style", you'll pick up, and absorb more influence from the other drummers you choose to replicate than you might think.. So just pick a good, well known song, put on a pair of headphones, and start from the beginning. Learn in chunks. If you get to a part that you can't quite figure out right away, just listen to over and over, break it down, and learn it little by little, adding a bit more each time. That's all I got. Good luck.
