Crappy Humpday, folks! :( The video file of today's wake 'n break was corrupting in my video editor, so I had to work around it by recording the screen of my laptop with my phone.

Anyway, today's wake 'n break is a boom chick groove with an oddly staggered rim pattern as well as anticipated snare drum accents. Taking our feet first, we have what I refer to as the "boom chick" ostinato with our bass drum falling on 1 and 3 while our hi-hats are falling on 2 and 4. Now let's take a look at the rims. First we have the rim of the bass drum falling on the "and" of 1 and on the "and" of 3, followed by the rim of the snare drum falling on 2 and 4. Moving along, we have hi-hat notes falling on the "a" of 1 and on the "a" of 3 and last but not least, our snare drum has an accent on the "and" of 4. As always, I hope you dig it and much love!

Hey-ey-ey-ey folks! :) Today's wake 'n break is a two bar waltz groove where we have snare accents on both a downbeat and an upbeat. Taking our feet first, our bass drum is falling on "1&" while our hi-hats are being chicked on 2 and 3. Next, our ride cymbal has a steady slew of eighth notes on "1&2&3&" throughout both bars. Last but not least, our snare drum is falling on 3 in the first bar and then on the "and" of 2 in the second bar. As always, I hope you dig it and much love!

Thank goodness it's Friday-ay-ay-ay, folks! :) Today's wake 'n break is an uptempo groove that is broken up among the ride and snare groove with no bass drum notes in the first half of the bar. Starting with our ride cymbal first, we have notes falling on "1e", "2e", on 3, and on 4. Next, our snare drum has accented notes falling on the "and" of 2 and on the "and" of 4, with ghost notes falling on the "&a" of 1 as well as on the "a" of 3. Now let's take a look at our bass drum, which has notes falling on 3 and 4. Last but not least, our hi-hats are falling on all of the upbeats or "and's". As always, I hope you dig it and have a great weekend!

Hey folks! :) I hope everyone's weekend is going well. Today's wake 'n break is a sixteenth note boom bap beat with singles broken up between the snare drum and a bell that was once part of a set of African ogene. First thing to note is that this groove starts with a pickup on the "a" of 4. Starting with the hi-hats, we have our pickup with an open note on the "a" of 4 , followed by notes on "1e&a", "2e&a", on 3, and on the "e&a" of 4, with openings on the "a" of 2 and on the "a" of 4. Next, our bass drum has the pickup on the "a" of 4, followed by notes on the "e&" of 1, the "a" of 2, the "e&a" of 3, and on the "a" of 4. Moving along, we have a short slew of 32nd note singles broken up between the bell and snare, starting on the bell which is falling on the "e&a" of 3. Last but not least, our snare drum has accented notes on 2 and 4. As always, I hope you dig it and much love!

It's Sunday Drumday-ay-ay-ay, folks! Today's wake 'n break is a backbeat that is built around double strokes on the snare and hi-hats. Taking our bass drum first, we only have notes falling on "1&". Next, our hi-hats are falling on "1e" and on "3e". Last but not least, our snare drum is falling on the "&a" of each beat. As always, I hope you dig it and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

A new week is upon us once again, folks! :) Today's wake 'n break starts with a buzz stroke on the hi-hats and upbeat accents on the snare drum. This groove does not have a bass drum on the 1, so it is extremely easy to turn around the bass drum and hi-hat parts by mistake. Taking our hi-hats first, we have buzzed strokes on "1e" and on "3e", as well as notes on the "and" of 1, "2&", the "and" of 3, and on "4&". There are also open notes on the "and" of 2 and on the "and" of 4. Moving along to the bass drum, we have notes falling on the "&a" of 1, on 2, the "&a" of 3, and on 4. Last but not least, our snare drum has accented notes on the "and" of 2 and on the "and" of 4. As always, I hope you dig it and here's to everyone's week starting off on the good foot!

Hey-ey-ey-ey folks! :) Today's wake 'n break is built around a busy bass drum pattern and can easily be felt in both 6/8 or 3/4, but I'll be breaking it down in 6/8. Taking the bass drum first, we have notes falling on "1&", the "and" of 2, on 3, on "4&", the "and" of 5, and on 6. Looking at our hi-hats next, we have notes falling on 1 and 3 with an open note on 3. Moving along to the ride cymbal, we have a single bell accent on 5 and last but not least, our snare drum has a single accented note on 5. As always, I hope you dig it and much love!

Happy Humpday-ay-ay-ay, folks! 🐪 Today's wake 'n break is a baiao inspired groove that utilizes a Hammerax splash vine, which consists of three different pitched splashes. Taking our feet first, we have the traditional baiao ostinato with our bass drum falling on 1 and the "a" of 1, the "and" of 2, on 3 and the "a" of 3, and on the "and" of 4, while our hi-hats are falling on all of the upbeats or "and's". Moving along to the splash vine, the highest pitched splash has a single note on 1. Next, the middle splash is falling on the "a" of 1 and on 4, and our third and lowest pitched splash is falling on the "e" of 3. Last but not least, we come to our snare drum, where we have accented notes on the "and" of 2 and on 4, with ghost notes on the "e&" of 1, the "&a" of 3, and on the "a" of 4. As always, I hope you dig it and much love!

Sorry for the lack of transcriptions recently. I ran out of staff paper and never got to the store last week to replace it. No worries, they're coming back!

Hey-ey-ey-ey, folks! :) Today's wake 'n break is a laid back and somewhat funky groove in 6/8. Taking the hi-hats first, we have notes falling on 1, 2, "3&", 5, and on 6. Looking at the bass drum next, we have notes falling on 1, 2, the "and" of 3, and on "5&6&". Last but not least, our snare drum has a single accented note on the "and" of 4, as well as ghost notes on the "and" of 1, the "and" of 2, on 4, the "and" of 5, and on the "and" of 6. Thank goodness it's Friday-ay-ay-ay! :) Today's wake 'n break is a mainly linear and somewhat staggered backbeat with short sixteenth note triplet phrases broken up between the hi-hat, snare drum, and bass drum. In this groove, we'll be counting sixteenth note triplets as: "1 trip let & trip let". Taking our hi-hats first, we have notes falling on 1 and 3, as well as open notes on the "and" of 2 and on the "and" of 4. Next, our snare drum has accented notes on 2 and 4, as well as ghost notes on the first "trip" and "let" of both 1 and 3. Last but not least, our bass drum is falling on the first "let" of both 1 and 3, as well as on the "and" of both 1 and 3. As always, I hope you dig it and have a great weekend!
