Hello everybody,

Let me introduce my project : I wanted to make a yellow copper custom snare with a little bet : spending less than $200 for that awesome snare.

PS : sorry for my poor English, I'm a French guy :)

What you need :

- A yellow Copper Die Cast Shell @ 1.2mm : 14*5.5 ($85)
- Dunnett Strainer ($40)
- 10X classic tubelugs ($50)
- A pair of Die Cast hoops (Free from hold snare)
- Carbon Snarewire ($9)
- Remo Ambassador X Coated batter head ($11)
- Aquarian reso bottom head (free from hold snare)

TOTAL : $195

I wanted a typical warm snare sound with beautiful rimshots. The sound is really focused and has a great balanced bass. The Ambassador X is a 12 Myl head and helps a lot to get that warm sound I was looking for. In fact,,a yellow copper snare is a brass one check here :

Let see the pictures now :

Looks like brass to me.

OK I learned something today. Yellow copper is brass. Never heard of yellow copper prior. TY.

Indeed Brass and Yellow Copper are the same since Yellow Copper is another name for Brass. Check here :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brass

I'm not sure where you are getting this statement. The term "yellow copper" isn't mentioned anywhere in that article.

Brass and bronze are both copper alloys, thus they should all look pretty similar (ie. not the normally metallic grey/silver color of steel/aluminum/etc). However, I'm not sure that "yellow copper" is a nickname for brass.

Humm indeed not mentioned in the UK Wikipedia version but in the French one, Yellow copper is given as Brass (we say in French, Laiton for Brass and Cuivre jaune for Yellow Copper). Anyways, this snare is amazing and sounds so good !

Thx for those replies

Found something relating that yellow copper = brass
For instance, the Pearl Free Floating Brass is given as Yellow Copper (Cuivre Jaune)

Just check here :

Check now this picture, it's clearly written "BRASS SHELL"
