Opinions:: Natural Wood hoops on a dark sunburst Gretsch Renown Maple.

I'm thinking of putting some natrual 12ply hoops on my renown maple kick drum, but I'm having trouble envisioning what it would look like. Any opinions?

The more parts you have, the more fun you can have. Extra hoops can always be used. Go for it.

First I would put a hoop around that singer. Standing on my drums would mean castration.

I have thought about natural on my renowns as well

I have wood hoops on my Bass and they look very good and would enhance your Gretsch even more, generally when you purchase them you need to fine sand and then add several layers of lacquer which will slightly darken the colour, the more layers the darker. They defiantly warm up the sound (not that that would be a problem with Gretsch)
and look great.
