Amazing last sentence in that article:
"Prosperie did not indicate whether he will pursue legal action or was compensated immediately for the incident."
Really? Compensated immediately? Sure, I'd expect the drummer to be repaid for any out of pocket expenses, but legal action for what appears to be a largely harmless accident (albeit a spectacularly stupid one).
I'd be asking what genius thought it would be a hot idea to stand behind a target.

If only he could have caught the axe and then thrown it back to him. He could lift his leg like Captain Morgan-arrrrrrgh and continue playing his drum. I'd pay to see that LOL.
