Overhead Mics?

So I'm just starting to build up my mic collection to mic my kit. I've got an SM57 on the snare, a D6 on the kick, and an Apex 540 as kind of a close to the kit room mic. I'm looking to pick up a pair of overheads, but need some advice as to which ones to buy. My budget is around $700, give or take. Also, some tips on placement would be helpful. X/Y? 2 feet apart? Let ne know me know what's better/what you prefer.

I play metal if that helps at all.

Well i will go for the akg 414`s maybe you can find them on ebay ,i have them for about 400 $ pr one ,it maybe over your buget but they keep value .
And they are for super for studio,live,vocals,overhead,.
So when you dont need them anymore you get still a good price for them.
