How does it sound? What do you think of that size, what styles does it gel with?

Gotta try a few more cajon or wooden snares. Interested in building some octagonal and rectangle ones. I have that thrones with a back rest, or one similar.
Just peeked, mine is not hydraulic.

I traded that old slingerland kick for this 21" sweet ride.

I bought it unheard but I got to play it for a minute this afternoon and it's very nice. I think I'll give it a clean and tackle my other cymbals while I'm at it.

Picked up this Paiste 2002 17" crash for $60. A little Paiste polish and it looked good as new except for the rubbed off lettering. Sounds pretty good too.

My latest purchase? Well, it will be my latest purchase pretty soon - it's a Ronnie Tutt Tribute Ludwig drum kit that was made by Michael Ochs.

I'm gonna try to find the blue foam dampers like what Tutt used in his blue sparkle Ludwig kit and use them in the kick drums instead of what is seen in the pictures.

DW Performance Series in Dark Cherry Stain lacquer.
10/12/14/16/22
Added the white head and t-rods.
Fell in love with the color the day they were introduced and got a killer deal on a new set from Sweetwater.
DW does not advertise the color any longer but they still make them.

This little beauty, Margo, 13 x 7, is one of the small batch of Santos Rosewood snares that was made about a year ago, and went to a customer somewhere in the desert. Owing to the extreme aridity, the drum shrank :o and so it was sent back to Guru and is being replaced with something made of sterner stuff. (Incidentally, Andy described rosewood as being "a bit of a diva", which seems appropriate somehow.) Andy was optimistic about it returning to size in due course once it was back in the UK.

I'd loved these drums when I'd seen them last year, so literally within seconds of hearing about this one, I messaged him to ask whether it would be for sale, if it did regain its size, and to "bagsy" it, if so. And sure enough, ladies and gentlemen - bingo, to within 2mm, I'm told.

Margo sounds every bit as good as she looks, and then some. She's tuned higher than the padauk but has a really sultry, warm tone - absolutely perfect for what I want. A delightful aesthetic touch, too, is the Guru logo on the snare ribbons!
Congratulations Mrs. Magenta and welcome to the GURU Rosewood family :) Your Margo is beautiful! I have one of Margo's slightly bigger brothers. I've had mine for a while now and I'm still discovering new amazing things about it. They are such exquisite instruments.

Just stocked up on a bunch of Ludwig heads before they are no longer available. Clear heavy and 2-ply batters for the whole kit and a few coated heavies for my snare drums. I'm usually a coated guy, but the clear Luddies sound awesome on my Legacy kit. Should be good for a while now.

I picked up 2 X DW Ultralight cymbal stands yesterday and then purchased a 21" Istanbul Agop Signature ride from a member at drum forum.org. Really loving the DW Ultralight stands. Really lighten the old hardware bag .

Not a purchase, but birthday gifts! Got some Gibraltar flat base hardware, a new 15" hi hat bottom w/ rivets, and some Fostex T50RP MkIII headphones. Now I just need to buy a couple more flat base straight stands and a direct drive pedal and my DW's are going retro.

Several pairs of Vic Firth X55B sticks. I had been alternating between X5Bs and Rock sticks over the past few months, but these are the perfect balance between the two diameters. They feel effortlessly perfect in my hands. (If only they came with Vic Grip.)

These are all of my purchases in the last thirty days. I'm trying to put together an early to mid-'70s Ludwig kit and I'm getting pretty close. Still need a 24x14 kick with a rail consolette and then two floor toms!

Two Atlas cymbal stands, Atlas snare stand, 3-ply champagne sparkle Ludwig toms (13x9, 14x10, 15x12), Gold Tone cowbell, Speed King.
