Default QSC vs Presonus?

Any thoughts of one vs the other?

For what? Recording or live performance? Or perhaps recording a live performance?

Are you asking about pre-amp performance? Effects on live instruements?

I’ve used a PreSonus StudioLive 16.4.2 for years, then migrated to a Studio 192. The integration of software & hardware makes recording very easy. Studio One DAW has served me well (but I’m waiting for bug spray on this latest release).

The StudioLive series was made almost specifically to produce & record live performances simultaneously. Their new series records “to a chip” without the need for an attached computer. The on-board controls for live effects is very powerful. The full global EQ is what makes it perfect for working a live venue.

While the QSC looks good on paper, I’ve never touched one.

We were early adopters of Presonus StudioLive boards in our clubs. They make a number of things extremely easy at the cost of an initial steep knowledge binge and setup. They were a godsend.

I've never used the QSC stuff.

Note: Early Presonus boards had quirks which supposedly have been fixed. 10 years ago, my main gripe was that the audio would cut out briefly when attaching/detaching a firewire device... So you'd be recording a show on a laptop and the laptop runs out of battery or gets unplugged.... The whole PA would go completely silent for 5 seconds, and then come back full-on, scaring the shit out of everyone in the club.

It would be used for recording. Thanks for the input.

My suggestion: Buy both, test 'em, return the one you don't like.

I don't know if you can control effects on the QSC TouchMix-16, but on the StudioLive it's possible to have effects (EQ, reverb, etc.) in your headphone mix but not to the output file (which you'll mix with).
