I use Transcribe! as well. Great for working out guitar solos with lots of options and is designed for the purpose. I've used Reaper to slow down songs, any DAW will give you some basic speed and loop control, I think. Have not used either to work out any drum parts, yet. I would probably fire up Transcribe! if the day comes.
