Grady Tate RIP

Back in the early '70's, when I was in my 20's I got turned off by a lot of popular, not pop, music and started listening to a lot of other stuff to see what was out there and what could be fun to drum to. One musician I fell in love with was Jimmy Smith, jazz organist. It was my first real introduction to just what a Hammond B-3. The guy was amazing and I listen to a lot of his stuff still today. His drummer at the time was the remarkable Grady Tate. Probably the only hit to make the top 10 or 20 was I got My Mojo Workin'. Grady's sound and timing to me was remarkable. He passed on October 8 from complications of Alzheimers disease. Condolences to his family and friends.
