Default HELP! does the snare I just bought exist?

Just bought a snare, should get it within a week. After buying I've done some research (can only find a sig. steel snare that comes with a sig. set nothing about it being cast) I not so sure that the ad was accurate.. DDRUM 5x14 carmen appice CAST steel snare... The guy assured me on phone it was a very high quality and very heavy snare. I however did not think to ask if he was sure it was CAST at the time I had no reason to doubt the ad. I asked if it was at least 3mm? he said he was pretty sure. I'm sure I can send it back if its rolled with a seam but I'll be really dissapointed if its not what the ad says. Anyone have/play or have any knowledge PLEASE HELP!!!
Heres is the ad

there is really no where to be lost
first of all, why wouldnt that snare exist if youve already bought one?
and second, COME ON MAN! its not a wood snare, ITS A STEEL SNARE (its easy to predict its characteristics)
and, if it doesnt have any brand printed in it, nevermind, at least it sounds

Haha, I'm gonna have to agree with you on that :D

As far as the snare is concerned, I have no idea, but as long as its in good condition and you like the sound, be happy with it! Haha, thats the best advice I can give you :P

Let me rephrase this... Does anyone know if Ddrum made a Carmen Appice CAST steel snare? or is there a chance the clerk/manager whom ever entered the info for GC might mislabelled a used snare?

I think that they are referring to the cast hoops.
It looks like a pretty good drum.
As in Cast/Steel

I often read the ads on GC, etc and scratch my head while I try to figure out what the product description really means.

If you go on Sam Ash's site and you select kits with a 20 inch bass drum you will find that some of the kits that are listed have bass drums that are 22 inches in diameter and 20 inches in depth.
The search engine on the site doesn't know to use only the diameter measurement.

Well, as I'm sure the MAN Carmine Appice himself would tell you to your face: If it's good enough for me, it's good enough for you!

Andy Warhol used to sell 'invisible' sculptures for $40K, they basically just looked like a pedestal.

The APPICE brass sig is 6.5mm, gold-plated flanged hoops, brass billet lugs, NICKLEWORKS throw, definitely a quality drum.

This vid though could suggest the drum does not exist.

Thats one great drum ...would be nice if the steel one is 6.5mm, though I may need a pretty hefty snare stand.... it does seem Ddrum makes some really nice snare drums and I talked the manager down on the price so... Bo is right though if its good enough for CA it should be good enough for me (at least as a back up snare) lol

Well, I was making fun of Carmines' alleged capacious ego..... I'm sure it's a fine snare drum regardless if his name is on it. I just thought it funny that he would tell you it's good enough for you.... ;)

Mystery solved this is the snare that comes with the Carmine Appice Signature ddrum 4 piece kit. A 5x14 Steel snare. If you check the pics they have the same throw off as the Carmine brass snare. Also I'd doubt it's 6.5MM thick like the brass one. My experiance with steel snares/kits are they usually are on the thiner size.

Thanks, I'll re-visit post when it comes in and review it...if it has a seam I'll more then likely send it back unless of course it sounds too good to.
