Default dating a supra

I picked up a supra for 50 bucks at a pawn shop the other day. It's a little rough. There is rust on the steel parts, and the chrome is pitted, and flaking on the shell. I've looked on line and on here about dating it, and I'm confused now. The serial #is 1627690. Most of the #s listed on the dating chats are 6 digits and mine is 7 digits. There are some years listed with 7 digits but my numbers are not within that numeric range. Also there is a yr or two where the #s were sporadic, which might be my snare. There is a Ludaloy sticker inside, and an internal muffler. The lugs have Springs inside of them with felt backing. Do any of you guys and gals know any more that can point towards a manufacturing date? Here are some pics.

Nice find.
the pointy edged badge (versus the rounded corners) helps date it to earlier than late 70's. Serial numbers wander allover.

I knew that was going to come up LOL at least she's old enough for me I was born in 60. There's nothing wrong with dating a Supra that's 10 years younger than you is there LOL

Thank you. It's all stripped right now with chrome cleaner on it. I'll probably buff it off tomorrow and start putting it back together. I'm excited I've owned acrylite but not a Supra.

late serial number ...

I wouldn't doubt if it was post '84 when Ludwig moved to Monroe

and unfortunately Monroe badges can't really be used to date the drums

When I first saw it I was thinking that only the 70s and older have the internal Muffler but after looking online I see that some of the newer ones also had it

Gotter cleaned up she looks pretty good but not quite as good as the picture indicates. Only tapped on it once because it was midnight when I got it put back together. tomorrow I'll get to see what it sounds like.

According to the published guide I have the serial number dates it around 77 to 78.

On the list that I looked at I think 77 was the only year that had seven digits and they ended in 1290 something
