Well, I ended up looking far worse than Henri's "imagining" of me.

Put simply, I disgraced myself. Way too much wine, & ended up recycling the wonderful buffet in the garden :( I can't remember most of the evening, but I'm told I played drums on multiple occasions. I can only imagine the train crash that ensued. Hopefully, there's no video of that, although I'm fearing otherwise.

A huge thank you to Madge & Glyn for their splendid hosting, and I beg forgiveness from forum stalwarts Henri, Ben, Jon, Alex, Duncan & David for my shameful behaviour + early departure to my bed. Finally, a huge debt of gratitude to my long suffering wife who looked after me in my disgraceful state.

Funny enough I stumbled across the remains of your buffet meal in the garden shortly after you left Andy ; )

That was a whole load of fun, now back in our hometown and shattered, both about to have a snooze at her parents to help recover.

Thank you again to Madge and Glyn for your brilliant hospitality, that was a lot of effort into the weekend and greatly appreciated and great, great fun all getting together to play and hang out. I will look forward to news of a follow up next year as we'd jump at the chance to attend again.

Dawn and myself took some photos/videos at various stages of the evening so I'll look to upload them when we get home tomorrow and back in the land of wifi. Sadly we didn't have that footage of you singing in the end Andy as I thought but it very much did happen!- although we do have a singing (and dancing) Duncan on video.

Was a great evening last night/day today and we both laughed a lot. Looking forward to seeing you all again in person at the London Drum Show.

Oh Andy, stop talking nonsense! You enjoyed yourself - I hope! - and if that wasn't the whole point, I don't know what was.

The Fest was brilliant, pretty much everything that we'd hoped it would be. It was especially lovely that Juniper's fiancee came, even though she didn't know anybody (apart from him, obv) and isn't a drummer - although she does have a pair of pink drumsticks.

There was plenty of drumming, and plenty of music (could have used a couple more guitarists and singers, but luckily Duncan obliged with some rather unique vocal skillz), and Andy had very kindly brought an ovangkol and the padauk Tour snares. I LOVED the ovangkol but he wouldn't give it to me, the meanie. So although there was much in the way of what you'd expect from a Fest, really and truly the enduring legacy is our friendship, which has genuinely deepened and which I hope will go on to last for a very long time.

I can't tell you how much I loved every single second. The long-suffering Mr Madge (Glyn) thoroughly enjoyed himself, especially this morning when he was talking gardening to Yvonne. I'm especially chuffed that he is starting to think of my DW friends as HIS friends too :D

ETA, Michele messaged me last night/this morning to say that she hoped we'd had a fantastic time, which I thought was jolly lovely of her. I was able to assure her that we had indeed.

And finally, they aren't drummers so they aren't on here, but I absolutely have to give a big shout-out to Kate, my favourite bass-player, and Georgie who really does have the voice of an angel, whether she's singing classic Billie Holliday or Black Sabbath!

Oh, and other finally, HUGE thanks to Ben and Henri, for having the genius idea in the first place and without whom, nothing would have been possible.

Final finally, it was so much fun that we're going to do it again next year! Who's up for it?

PS Photos later. Haven't even looked at mine but they're probably rubbish. Hoping that other people will have some half-decent ones.

Up for it.

I apologise to anybody who had to endure my various 'sessions' at the microphone with half-remembered lyrics and dreadful singing. Really. I can't afford for you all to have individual therapy but maybe you guys can arrange some kind of group discount?

Thank you so much Madge (and Glyn, obviously) for tolerating my presence as well as the outstanding hospitality and thank you to everyone for all being very, very fabulous.

PS. I dropped David off at the station about half an hour ago and despite being in a confined space with me for several hours, there were only minor signs of mental distress.

YES - MADgeFest 2017!!! Bring it on :-)

A wonderful weekend with lovely people and friends, a total success for the first ever MADgeFest. it was a real blast, the drumming was great, the other musicians were awesome and the "audience" was cheerfully enthusiastic!

The food and the CAEKS were exquisite, thanks to the chefs and the guests, special mention for Madge: the best caek maker in the world.

Another huge mention for Ben who delighted almost everyone with his divine cocktails, a true master of blending beverages and aromas that leaves you asking for some more!!!

Besides the jamming sessions, I genuinely enjoyed all the chats and discussions with everyone :)

The Weather was kind on us too, with a dry night for those who had their tents set up in the garden.

Loads of photos and videos have been taken by many (some with epic evidences which will make you laugh), hopefully all will end up here for everyone to enjoy (Yes, it includes you Andy!)

Huge thanks to Madge and Glyn for their outstanding hospitality <3

Duncan - I'm pretty sure that David will never be the same again! ;)

What has been heard cannot be un-heard :( Fair play to Duncan though - no boundaries ;) I certainly discovered wine is not a great creativity fuel. I might have been blind drunk, but still sensible enough to bail on the drum part for Hocus Pocus ;)

Great photos/videos so far. Good memories of a good night/day.

Excuse the tardiness of this, we got back home late last night so no time to upload the footage before bed.

Videos in order of them being shot by us both.

We're both in for next years already and I'll make sure I bring the pink drum sticks and their owner again. Excuse some of the footage, sure you can tell when the alcohol started to take effect ; )

Again, lovely to spend time with you all, both really enjoyed ourselves and all of your company at such a great setting.

P.s Madge did the other dog at the farm turn up in the end? Or is it still hanging out with your horses?

Wow looked like an awesome party. I'd say it was a "blast" but I didn't hear any blast beaters blasting? Lovely lot of folks and loved the videos. We should have an international party= so DW forum members from all over should rent a cruise liner (we'd easily fill one) for our own private party to be held somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic-out in international waters where all sorts of debauchery are allowed. Maybe not-it'd probably set sail and never return given this crew.

We talked about trying to round up DWers to converge on a convenient location. The cruise liner is a FANTASTIC idea, if only we could get somebody to pay for it :/

The August bank holiday is difficult, as we head off for Spain (for three months) at the beginning of September and our last week at home is always frantic. Shame (for me) that it's probably perfect for everyone else !

I'm just going to have to organise myself a bit better for next year. Promise.

Yes, brilliant and terrific idea, if someone here win the lottery, please could you finance this once in a lifetime cruise, could you imagine a cruise liner full of drummers!!! The crew will hate us... :)

Having said that, it would be so cool to have our friends from across the pond in a MADgeFest event, maybe one day.

As you know, the idea of MADgeFest was to meet DW members outside the LDS or the MDS (which is this Sunday coming) because it felt too long before DW friends meet again.

Now you've seen the photos and the videos, which are all about drumming and jammin' together, of course it was a big part of the event and it was real fun to play and watch. But this is only a (important) part of the event.

The best bit was to have a decent conversation with each other or as a group, which is something that we can't do at the drum shows, it's too noisy and many want to see the performances and the drums on display. So it was really nice to be able to chat with everyone, especially on the Sunday where not much drumming took place. It reinforce the friendship.

And of course, making new friends was a big highlight too ;)

Sorry I haven't chimed in here regularly. Partly down to crazy workload, & partly down to embarrassment at my regretful behaviour. Great fun though (while it lasted), & great people :)
