Default Choices... Ash or Maple

Hey all, ive been searching for a practice/ gig kit... something a little smaller than what i have now and have narrowed it down to 2. I think im going to go with a Ddrum this time around... i played a couple and was very impressed. I can get both for just about 600 dollars... but am not sure what i want exactly. I have a ludwig epic x-over walnut now and want either maple or ash. Can someone give me a brief rundown of the main differences. The kits are the same sizes, heres a pic for reference... the first is a dominion ash and the second is a maple dios kit, both my ddrum

Like the cast rims on the blue and 10 lug bass + agree its a looker...if its the maple I would go that way.. I think ash is softer and not quite as loud as maple...but I'm sure someone here will give you more info... for 600 doesnt look like you can go wrong with either
