Simon Philips, acclaimed drummer from the band ‘Toto’, will be coming to Norwich to feature in a drum clinic, hosted by The Anglia Drum Centre on Monday 13th July at the Waterfront in Norwich.

The legendary drummer is considered by fans and musicians alike to be one of the world''s most renowned and respected drummers, whose style not only reflects his technical gift but also his distinct musical sensibility. Whether it’s Rock, Fusion or Jazz, he applies the same precision and intensity to his drumming, which is never lacking in emotion and feel.

Simon has spent most of 2008 and the first half of this year touring the world performing and giving clinics including; the USA, South America, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Canada, Amsterdam, Japan, Indonesia, Finland, Scandinavia, Germany, Italy, Far East, New Zealand, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Holland, Switzerland and Luxembourg amongst many other places.

Jason Keyte, Owner of Anglia Drum Centre, who are hosting the clinic said: "I was really pleased to secure the clinic with Simon as East Anglia is often overlooked when it comes to these types of events. The clinic gives everyone in the area the chance to pick the brain and learn some great tips from such a drum master with so many years of professional experience."

This is a rare opportunity for both drummers and Toto fans to see the man live, as Simon will only be appearing at 2 other dates whilst the UK; in Scotland and Birmingham so demand is sure to be high and booking tickets early is advisable.

Simon''s professional musical career began at the early age of twelve, performing and recording with his father''s - Sid Phillips - Dixieland band until he turned sixteen. With an offer to play in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar, his path was marked and his career in full bloom. He soon became one of London''s most celebrated session drummers. In his early twenties he was well on his way to having a musical career nothing short of brilliance. To date he has toured and recorded with many bands and artists, including: Mick Jagger, The Who, Jeff Beck, Peter Gabriel, Tears for Fears, Mike Oldfield, Roxy Music, Robert Palmer and Dave Gilmour... to name but a few!
